Human Workplace Analytics

The term Human Workplace Analytics (HWA) illustrates interconnectedness between human behaviour, workplace environments and technology, beyond what is typically considered as Human Resources. Our approach to HWA applies the latest knowledge in Work & Organisation psychology and statistical analysis methods to get first-class knowledge for making concrete plans.

How it works

Codex Ipsum HWA is a complete employee insights and solutions service, built to scale.

A vast amount of avenues for investigation lay behind managerial questions, such as how to increase job satisfaction, and how to reduce employee turnover, production errors and absence days. Despite best efforts investigations may fail to penetrate the surface and detect critical information; thus, reliability of answers is compromised and solutions become cost-inefficient.

To account for for this problem, Codex Ipsum HWA is a complete continuous improvement service that screens, detects and investigates employee related challenges, plans and performs solutions, analyses solution effectiveness and iterates and scales according to your needs. Backed by quantitative data, statistical analyses, detailed reports and actionable recommendations, all tailored to your organisation.

The planning stage involves making implementation decisions. Questions need to be answered regarding scale of implementation (i.e. on the scale of region, department or whole organisation), research methods validity and reliability management, frequency of measurement and reporting, data management procedures and how to onboard the psychometric measurement instruments.

To aid in problem detection and solving, we use tried and tested peer-reviewed psychometric instruments. Most often these instruments are self-reported employee questionnaires, which detect issues in multiple dimensions, scale cost-effectively for any size of organisation, and provide statistics ready data. This screening information is able to detect strengths and weaknesses in your employee environment, which indicate cause for further attention.

Surface-level questionnaires administered on a large scale are ill suited to make accurate statements on causes of any issues. Consequently, to get insights and achieve meaningful change further investigation is necessary. More purpose-oriented questionnaires, employee interviews and/or workplace observation are used to receive more accurate information, on both the subject issue and the environment around it.

At the end of the investigation period findings are analysed and recommendations are reported, which may lead to implementation of a workplace intervention.

Depending on the nature of the issue, a psychological intervention is developed based on workplace investigation findings. Intervention refers to a workplace change in a general sense, which differs in scales of time and effect, including employee and leadership training, development of workplace policies, improvement in employee selection, improving psychological occupational health, and many more depending on the nature of the issue.

Intervention success is evaluated by comparing post-intervention results, typically on the same instruments used for screening and investigating. A significant positive change is an indication of a successful intervention.

Performed as such, the process allows for iteration and scaling according to your organisational needs. By using statistics-ready data at each point of the process, effects can be robustly observed along with expenses. Accumulated over time, this allows robust cross-referencing of different strategies and services and determining the amount of investment needed to gain and sustain optimal benefits.

Every step produces concrete deliverables. It is not necessary to commit to the entire process, enabling you to benefit from the system on a step-by-step basis. Yet, greatest value is achieved when the whole process is integrated, which offers greater information automation, less middle service suppliers and greatest data security.
